The Interior Ministry declared that an inquiry was initiated following the passing of a person in the conflicts that broke out in Aïn Sakhouna, this Sunday, December 13, 2020, between inhabitants of Béni Khedache (governorate of Medenine), and those of Douz, (governorate of Kebili).
In a statement released the evening, the Interior Ministry stated that 53 people were wounded in the clashes over a dispute regarding a property in the town of Ain Skhouna. The wounded were carried to hospitals in Matmata, Beni Khedache, Gabès and Medenine.
The same source likewise said that the units of the National Guard intervened to put an ending to the clashes, in collaboration with the national army.
The department added that a security meeting was held under the direction of the Minister of the Interior Tatoufik Charfeddine, and that prime minister Hichem Mechichi commissioned the creation of a monitoring unit in coordination with the services of the Ministry of National Defense.
